Huawei recently launched the Huawei Mate XT, the world’s first dual-hinged, triple-screen foldable phone, and it cost an astounding $2,809!

That is based on the official Chinese price of ¥19,999 or roughly ₱157,251.36. Its unique design allows you to unfurl the 6.4-inch phone into a 10.2-inch tablet.

Alternatively, you may unfold the Mate XT partially into a 7.9-inch device. At the time of writing, Huawei has not confirmed whether it will launch the trifold phone outside China.

The Huawei Mate XT’s most noticeable feature is its tri-fold design that divides the gadget into three sections. It measures 10.2” when fully unfurled. 

Folding the left section back turns it into a 7.9” device, and folding the right turns it into a compact 6.4” phone.

The screen is a flexible LTPO OLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The 10.2” configuration supports 3,184 x 2,232 resolution.

The 7.9” mode offers 2,232 x 2,048 pixels and the 6.4” provides 2,232 x 1,008 pixels. Consequently, Huawei calls its display “3K,” due to being the midrange between 2K (QHD) and 4K.

The Chinese tech giant says it enhances the display with “AI computing image quality.” Also, the rear camera consists of the following: 

50MP sensor 12MP telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera Laser autofocus module

The 8 MP front camera functions as a selfie camera when you fold the device. Moreover, Huawei explained the ideal uses for the three display configurations: 

Article continues after this advertisement Single-screen (6.4”) is ideal for daily tasks. Dual-screen (7.9”) works best for web browsing and reading. Triple-screen (10.2”) is great for detailed work and study and enhances productivity tools like email, multitasking, and AI-based features.

Huawei named the Mate XT’s hinge system after the Tiangong Space Station, allowing for “internal and external bending.” 

The Huawei Mate XT also uses an upgraded Xiaoyi voice assistant called Celia. Its AI functions include voice-to-text, automatic split-screen, real-time document translation, and photo retouching.

GSMArena says it has a China-exclusive feature called dual-way satellite communication. It only connects to Tiantong satellites via China Telecom.

The Huawei Mate XT or Mate XT Ultimate costs roughly $2,800 (₱157,255.56) for the 256 GB version, $3,100 (₱174,104.37) for the 512 GB, and $3,400 (₱190intgames,953.18) for the 1 TB.
