On September 10, 2024, Sony announced the latest iteration of its gaming consoleroyal swerte, the PlayStation 5 Pro, “Our most advanced and innovative console hardware to date.” 

As expected, the PS5 Pro delivers features from its predecessors with increased graphics. Moreover, it uses artificial intelligence to boost graphical quality to greater heights.

These upgrades enable the new console to run PS4 and PS5 games with better visuals and smoother frame rates. Note that the device has no built-in disc drive, but you may add one for $79.99 or roughly ₱4,470.40.

Hideaki Nishino, Platform Business Group CEO (Sony Interactive Entertainment), posted a blog elaborating on his company’s latest gaming device.

He says Sony developed the PS5 Pro with “deeply engaged players and game creators in mind,” because many want high graphics at 60 FPS.

That is why they built the PlayStation 5 Pro with the following upgrades: 

Article continues after this advertisement Enhanced GPU: Its graphics processing unit has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. Consequently, the machine offers up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay making the experience much smoother.  Advanced Ray Tracing: The improved ray tracing enables more dynamic light reflection and refraction. As a result, the Pro version can cast light two to three times faster than the current model. AI-Driven Upscaling: PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution uses machine learning to provide super sharp image clarity for the PS5 Pro.  PS5 Pro Game Boost: It improves the performance of over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games and other PS5 titles. 

The PlayStation 5 Pro will launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, and support variable refresh rate (VRR) and 8K gaming.

Gamers may look forward to PS5 Pro Enhanced versions of their favorite games, identified by their namesake label in the title, such as:

The PlayStation 5 Pro will cost $699.99 or around ₱39,536.49 and launch on November 7, 2024.

You may preorder on September 26, 2024, at direct.playstation.com and participating retailers in regions where the website isn’t available. On October 10, 2024, pre-orders will open at all other participating retailers.
